ABOUT ANDREW

Andrew Geoghegan has been designing jewellery since 1998. Not selecting it, sourcing it or curating it. Designing it.

His ideas often begin where you least expect them. Astronomy. Architectural geometry. A roaring fire in a remote French chalet. Even an Anglo-Saxon gold discovery made while metal detecting with his son Arthur. What matters is what those ideas become.

Alongside the ideas sits an enduring fascination with craftsmanship. Andrew's obsession with the art of gem-setting and precision has shaped every collection he has created for more than twenty-five years.

The result is a body of work that has earned the British Jewellers' Association Designer of the Year Award, Professional Jeweller Collections of the Year - winner three years running, and a place in Liberty London. Andrew's unique engagement rings and fine jewellery are worn and collected by clients seeking pieces with a distinct point of view.

Each ring is hand-set under a microscope and finished by hand in the UK. Questions about a ring go straight to Andrew, and he answers them himself.

Three Stones Engagement Rings - The Cannelé Trois precious setting holds a trio of brilliant-cut diamonds, each surrounded by a cluster of tiny, intricately cut stones. Meticulous fluting to each of the three settings brings extraordinary detail, from all angles to this elegant, romantic designer engagement ring, resplendent in fine fluted detail.

A beguiling trio of 0.86cts diamonds G VS total, set in precious metal. The table below shows the centre stone weights with the corresponding total surrounding stone weight.

THREE STONES ENGAGEMENT RINGS

Three Stones Engagement Rings can represent whatever you wish, but the traditional symbolism is Past, Present, and Future - The centre and usually larger stone representing Present and the two remaining stones represent Past and Future. They are such a wonderful alternative to the halo or solitaire ring and the symbolism coupled with the distinct look makes this style very desirable.

The concept of 3-stone engagement rings, regardless of the occasion, has a long history dating back to prehistory. While it's difficult to pinpoint the "first" recorded three-stone ring, these rings have been used throughout history to symbolise various aspects of relationships and have appeared in different cultures and time periods.

The specific origin of the first three-stone engagement ring is difficult to determine, but the concept of using multiple stones to represent different aspects of a relationship has been around for a very long time and has evolved over the centuries. A popular approach is to have a coloured centre gem such as a sapphire, and then two diamonds at the side. This works wonderfully to enhance the colour of the centre stone but also involves a spectacular contrast within the piece.

The first of the Andrew Geoghegan Three Stones Engagement Rings has a very different look from the Cannelé Trois as you can see from the image below. This is the Suspension Trilogy ring - very minimal and simple, as suited to Andrew's style in the early noughties.
